Severance (Seasons 1 & 2) — Senior VFX Compositor
Apple TV+ · Tasks: beauty work, replacements, set extensions, digital doubles, driving comps, Blood.
Tools: After Effects, Mocha Pro, Photoshop
Scope: Two seasons contributing to a wide variety of shots that evolved from subtle beauty fixes into full performance reconstruction. Work spanned digital head and limb replacements, animated baby composites, set extensions, interior driving comps, reflection removals, blood gags, and continuity adjustments.
Solution: Built complex composites beyond standard split-screens, including head and arm replacements with articulation and animation. Created a digital baby workflow with animated limbs and face replacement for realism. Used mesh tracking for precise facial blood effects on violently moving plates. Executed driving comps with interior interactive lighting and shadows. Removed camera crews, dolly tracks, and other set reflections in complex reflective shots. Stabilized aggressively shaky plates, reduced motion-blur striations, and adjusted hair color across sequences to maintain continuity for Christopher Walken’s character.
Outcome: Delivered invisible, story-driven effects that grounded surreal scenarios in realism. Contributions ranged from subtle continuity fixes to highly complex composites that reconstructed performances and enhanced emotional impact.
